 Sculpture in Galloway Forest

Welcome to Dumfries & Galloway known as the "hidden gem" of Southwest Scotland.  Galloway does not disappoint with spectacular scenery, excellent walks & climbs, golf courses, cycling, mountainbiking 7 Stanes, fishing, gardens, bird watching, sailing, horse riding, dark skies and so much more.

Caroline and Stewart McKean invite you to browse through their website for Isla Cottage B & B where you are assured of good accommodation, local produce and a very warm welcome too.  A Visit Scotland 4 Star grading has just been awarded to Caroline & Stewart for Isla Cottage.

Guest accommodation is upstairs and to the back of the house so  not to miss out on the wonderful view.  Isla Cottage offers a double room ensuite and a twin room ensuite which can be converted to a superking for longer stays.  Parking is to the rear of the cottage.

Isla Cottage dates back to around 1860, originally a cottage with just two rooms and a well for water, it was fully extended in the late 70's by its previous owners.

Caroline and Stewart have lived in Springholm (home of the springs) for the last 25 years and are keen walkers.  They frequently walk with a group of friends called the "Gallovidian Bogtrotters" but first started out with Dumfries & Galloway Ramblers.

Stewart's passion is golf and can advise on pretty much all of the courses available within a 60 mile radius of Springholm.    A keen fisherman in his younger days, Stewart now prefers to dabble in wood rather than water with his woodturning lathe.  He is also a keen bird watcher and member of the RSPB.

A small black cat called Lucy shares their home.  She is nearly 19 and still rather shy and rather deaf now, but she too will give you a warm welcome,  especially if food is on offer!
